What Is Truth?

“If the world is against the truth then I am against the world.” – St. Athanasius

Standing up for the truth will make you a pariah in a world that has always and will always suppress the truth that condemns man’s proclivity to sin.

Jesus said at His trial that He came to bear witness to the truth. At this statement, Pilate sneeringly replied “What is truth?”
Indeed that same attitude exemplifies a world utterly adrift in the sea of post modern humanism.

Yet all Pilate did was to prove convincingly, that many people cannot see the truth even when it is staring them in the face!

Today, well known social activist and speaker Tony Campolo has announced he is changing his position on Gay marriage (see link below to read his full statement).

Let us be crystal clear, the God who created every person engaged in homosexual sin and then sent His Son die for those very sins has never and will never change His position on this subject.

Woe to those who call evil good, and good evil; Who substitute darkness for light and light for darkness; Who substitute bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter! (‭Isaiah‬ ‭5‬:‭20‬ NASB)

  1. Thanks, Bob for our comments on this subject. At the bottom of this is your reference to Campolo. Click there and read, if you haven’t read already, the article by Ken Silva of Appraising Ministries. He has a ministry for exposing various ‘Emergent Church’ types. His, Campolo, interesting comment in the second to last paragraph about slavery is telling but what ‘true’ Christian is he talking about? See Granville Sharp on this: http://abolition.e2bn.org/people_22.html . He was a British Christian and incidentally formed ‘Sharp’s Rule’ in Greek. http://www.theopedia.com/Granville_Sharps_rule
